r.e.m. beauty (WEEK 10)

Excuse me, um... I love r.e.m. beauty! As a long-time fan of Ariana Grande and her music, I was elated when she announced that she would be creating her own make-up brand! My favorite thing about this brand is that they are consistent in making it true to Ariana. r.e.m. beauty uses different lyrics written by Grande as titles to the products to give a personal touch. Most recently, they have been advertising the "midnight shadows" on Twitter.   "r.e.m." is a song by Ariana Grande and it is also the namesake of her new beauty line. "Midnight shadows" is a lyric from Ariana Grande's song "Be Alright" from her fourth studio album, "Dangerous Woman." It is also the namesake of the eyeshadow palette that has just been released! Using this titling tactic creates a personal feel between Grande and her fans, but not to a point where people out-of-the-loop feel excluded. It's creative, it's fun, and it's fresh!  This ad works b...

Week #5  Have We META? Facebook is changing its name! I truly never thought that I would live to see the day. Mark Zuckerberg is an enigma, truly. He is brilliant, I cannot take that away from him. However, he is not without his faults, his several faults.  I think Zuckerberg's plan to infiltrate the Metaverse is clever, but I was not shocked. In fact, I almost feel like we could have all seen this coming from a mile away. He does not strike me as the type to sit back and watch technology evolve without somehow making it all about himself.  I think, though, the timing was rather funny. I mean, all this time to have rebranded and he chooses the exact moment Facebook is under fire! How convenient! I just think that maybe the worst time to rebrand is when your platform is battling accusations and proof of commandeering the spread of misinformation.  Perhaps, when all is said and done, this will have been a good idea. Maybe it is a good idea already, who am I to judge? I...

Week #2:  “The rest of the world was black and white, but we were in screaming color” Welcome to “Jess It Up”! My name is Jessica Fellerman, but my friends call me Jess. I am 19-years-old and I grew up in Kingston, Pennsylvania. I am in my second year at LCCC, but I am transferring to Wilkes Univerity in the Fall to major in Communications. Fortunately, I have had a pretty good life. Growing up, my parents made sure I had a fair opportunity to try out anything I wanted. I tried so many sports, but I never felt passionate about any of them. Friends around me would be absolutely enthralled and immersed in joy when playing these sports and it felt like I was trekking along miserably on the bylines. It certainly took me quite some time to figure out who I am.  I think it’s completely outlandish to expect seniors in high school to make a decision that will likely impact the directory of the rest of their life. I graduated high school at 17 and I knew not a thing about myself. In re...
